Photography III: Alternative Print Making

Prerequisite: Photography I and Photography II Alternative Print Making will survey a variety of non-traditional techniques that expand artistic possibilities for darkroom photographers. In the darkroom, we’ll explore: altering negatives, photo grams, painting with light, Sabattier prints (solarizition), applying chemistry with brushes, altering prints in tea and coffee dyes, cyanotype prints, and historic tin types. Students will learn how to mix chemicals, creatively apply solutions to various papers, expose and process with negatives, and tone prints in various ways Also covered will be basic workflow, troubleshooting, process management, and creative presentation ideas.
